Originally commissioned by Wayde King from the reality television show 'Tanked'.

The name derives from his last name and the fact he requested a Red Octopus since that was in their logo at the time.

I wanted to make an Octopus that had an appetite for Sharks with genetic details to reflect that.

Octopuses are so unique to begin with that I didn't want to change much from the species. Adding cartilage armor panels to it's head and a few more breathing intakes was all it took.

Bite marks on the Octopus's armored head hint at previous encounters but this Dog Shark isn’t going down without a fight!

In the original concept the Octopus ejected protein 'Blood' to attract sharks. Which is where part of the name comes from. I was planning a large cloud of red 'Blood' coming from the Octopus but thought it would be confusing and hint at the Octopus being injured instead.

The largest of my pieces to date it fits perfectly in an entry or foyer sure to make an impressive first impression.
